Pretty birds and silly moos: the women behind the UKs Sex Discrimination Act.
In the 50 years since equal rights for women were enshrined in UK law, the campaigners have been reduced to caricatures, or forgotten.
But their struggle is worth remembering.
Autonomous Alexander Dennis Enviro100AEV electric have begun trial passenger services in Cambridge as part of the Connector project. Following extensive testing, the first self-driving bus entered service on 17 December, with a second due to join shortly. The free weekday service links Trumpington and Babraham Park & Ride sites with the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and is operated by Whippet. Led by the Greater Partnership, Connector is assessing whether buses could play a future role in the citys network. A smaller autonomous bus has already carried 800 passengers since June. Designed and built in the UK, the Enviro100AEV recently won Vehicle of the Year at the Self-Driving Industry Awards 2025. The buses use an SAE Level 4 automated system from Fusion Processing and operate with trained safety drivers on board. The project is funded by the through the CAM Pathfinder programme.
The Government has reaffirmed its support for delivering Mass in West following a joint review with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority of the UKs largest local scheme. An independent review has led to a revised, phased timetable designed to reduce risk and improve delivery, though services are now expected to begin in the late 2030s rather than the mid-2030s. The plans have been welcomed by Mayor Tracy Brabin and Transport Minister Lord Peter Hendy. Ministers are also considering adding the scheme to the Governments Major Projects Portfolio, which would provide additional expertise and support and help cut red tape. Both sides have acknowledged frustration at the slow pace of major infrastructure delivery in the UK. Leeds remains the largest city in Western without a mass transit system, and leaders say the project is vital for economic growth, connectivity and a greener transport network.

Inside DPRK Operations: New Infrastructure Uncovered Across Global Campaigns
North Korean state-sponsored threat actors, including Lazarus and Kimsuky, continue to conduct widespread hacking operations for intelligence gathering, financial gain, and access. The investigation uncovered previously unconnected operational assets, revealing active tool-staging servers, credential theft environments, FRP tunneling nodes, and certificate-linked infrastructure. Key findings include a new Linux variant of the Badcall backdoor, extensive credential harvesting toolkits in open directories, and widespread deployment of Fast Reverse Proxy (FRP) instances. The analysis highlights consistent operational patterns across DPRK campaigns, such as reusing infrastructure, deploying identical FRP configurations, and leveraging shared certificates, providing defenders with actionable intelligence to proactively track DPRK activity.

United Kingdom to rejoin Erasmus programme in 2027
While the UK may never rejoin the European Union, it has now been confirmed that the country will return to the Erasmus program it left during Brexit. This means EU students can study in the UK without major bureaucratic hurdles, and British students will have the same opportunities to study across the continent. France24 correspondent Dave Keating reports the latest from Brussels.

Solidarity strike by Mansoor Adayfi
Salaam Alaikum.
As a former Guantanamo detainee GTMO441, we spent years in Guantanamo on hunger strike and force feeding. I know how governments punish and break hunger strikes.
Today, prisoners in UK prisons are on hunger strike for justice.
They have gone more than forty-five days without food.
Their bodies are breaking down, and the British government has chosen silence and violence. The British Government punishes them, ignores them, and refuses to provide the necessary health care they urgently need. This is a death sentence.
Hunger strikes are not protests of choice. They are protests of last resort.
The British government wants these men and women to disappear quietly.
The media wants to look away.
This silence is a weapon of violence.
Today, I am joining this hunger strike in solidarity.
I do this because I see now that Guantnamo is embedded in the UK prison system.
I do this because it is our duty to stand with the oppressed and confront the oppressor.

Westminster group was funded by Israeli government, inquiry confirms
Official probe was sparked by Declassified investigation into weapons firm
A weapons firm owned by the Israeli government paid a group of MPs as part of a PR and marketing campaign, an inquiry has found.
It follows an investigation by Declassified earlier this year into the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Defence Technology.
We revealed how the group took 1,499 from RUK Advanced Systems Ltd, which is part of the Israeli state-owned defence giant, Rafael.
Records show the company was controlled by the Israeli governments Ministry of Finance, which is led by far-right politician Bezalel Smotrich who is sanctioned by Britain for inciting extremist violence against Palestinians.
Declassifieds investigation sparked a lengthy probe by the Standards Committee into Neil Shastri-Hurst, the Conservative MP for Solihull West and Shirley, in his capacity as the APPGs chairman.
A 61-page report published last week concluded that the failure to conduct adequate due diligence had resulted in a foreign government temporarily part-funding the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Defence Technology.
